Trinity Point

A bespoke lighting feature was created for the banquet dining area of Trinity Point Restaurant, Trinity Point. With a ceiling area of 4.8 X 7.3 we required 55 glass components, each with an approximate length of 800mm.

Long, hot manipulated glass sections were to be moulded into unique undulating forms giving the overall effect of water and ‘A Splash’ when installed.
Images were discussed such as ‘your hand skimming across the surface of the water’ or a ‘Pelican landing upon a lake’ and ‘A dolphin surfacing for a breath’.
Each component was to play with light refractions and reflections similar to those you see when sunlight is shone through water.

We worked in a team of three, each of us needing to work with swiftness and spontaneity. Like most bespoke projects, days were spent working through the methodology of how to create the desired effect. Several sample sessions and discussions with the client teased out the final choreographed sequence, the work evolving in a truly collaborative fashion.

Each component was suspended overhead at various heights and sway to give the illusion of the wave movement. The work was remotely lit and suspended using un-obtrusive stainless-steel cables directly over the banquet area.
